Crunchy Apple Pie
Ingredients:
1 pastry crust for a 9 inch deep-dish pie crust
1/2 cup of sugar
3 Tbsp. all purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
6 cups of thinly sliced and peeled golden delicious and fuji apples
1 recipe of crumb topping (view below)
1/2 cup of chopped pecans
Crumb Topping:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 quick rolled oats
1/2 cup of butter
Directions for Topping:
Stir the brown sugar, flour and rolled oats then cut in 1/2 cup of butter till the topping produces course crumbs and set aside.
Directions:
Mix the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt in a large mixing bowl then add the coated apple slices tossing till coated. Transfer this mixture into the 9 inch pie crust and sprinkle the crumb topping over the pie. Place the pie on a cookie sheet to keep your oven bottom clean. Cover the edges of the pie crust with foil and bake for 25 minutes at 375 degrees. Now remove the foil then bake for an additional 25-30 minutes then sprinkle with the chopped pecans and cool. Serve with your favorite ice cream. You can drizzle caramel on the dessert if you like and enjoy.
